RM Rome Bestiary/Bestiaries
« on: August 16, 2013, 07:22:52 AM »
G'day!

This thread is to gauge the level of potential interest in either a single monster book or a series of geographical monster books for Rolemaster Rome. The basic idea I had is to list both fantastic & mundane creatures & monsters, with encounter data based on the real world rather than generic environment codes. So, for example, say I included the tatzelwurm as an encounter in the Alps (given that is where it is reputed to dwell), its description would list the Alps, and the relevant encounter table would include a column for the Alps, rather than just being for all mountain ranges.

In such a case, would people be interested in either a general, Empire-wide book, or one based on geographic areas, such as Imperial Europe, Asia, Northern Africa, and so forth? Feel free to leave your comments and thoughts below.

IMHO a book or books with monsters/animals that detail them in their specific region would be better and maybe a code in brackets or something for GM to take that creature to their other games.

How would something like this feel?--
(entry for Tatzelwurm)

Location: the Alps (ARU)

It covers the location & uses the encounter codes for the relevant version of Rolemaster.

While I am waiting on the beta of the RMU Creature Law, do you recommend that I talk with Graham about the concept of the Rolemaster Rome Bestiaries? If he's happy to look at a proposal, I could, for example, look into getting the guts of the works together so that, once the critter stats are stabilised, all I'd need to do is work in the relevant stats, proof, and playtest. Before sending it on along to be published.

I would talk to Graham and then once you get his ok I would go to Nicholas H.M. Caldwell with the idea.
