Title: Character Law Submittals
Post by: Colin-ICE on May 03, 2013, 06:46:05 AM
To celebrate 30 years of Rolemaster, each month we're giving you the chance to win some great Rolemaster prizes. This month it's character law and all you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is submit a character.

There will be five different categories and in each of them we will be looking for the best, most imaginative and most original character and crowning them the category winner. The category winners will then be considered against each other and an overall Character Law winner will be announced. The Character Law winner will then be considered against the overall winners for Spell Law, Treasure Law and Creature Law and Arms Law (they will also have sub contests) to find an overall “Rolemaster’s 30th anniversary competition winner!”

So here are the Character Law categories:

Character from the realm of Arms (eg Fighter, Warrior Monk, Thief, Rogue, Laborer, Scholar etc)

Character from the realm of Channeling (eg Cleric, Druid, Paladin, Ranger etc)

Character from the realm of Essence (eg Magician, Illusionist, Bard, Dabbler etc)

Character from the realm of Mentalism (eg Mentalist, Lay Healer, Monk, Magent etc)

Character from the Hybrid realms (eg Healer, Sorcerer, Mystic etc)

Start submitting your characters now. We want to see them all. Submit them here.

Hi all.

Figured I'd post a favorite NPC from my campaign of days passed. Notes and caveats - this is her NPC file from 20 years ago - it references a variety of names from published works (Harn, MERP, Cook's Black Company, etc.) - and its **LONG** (lots of gear, history, etc.). Feel free to pelt me w questions.

Regards,
Old Man

The link in http://ironcrown.com/blog/2013/05/03/rolemasters-30th-anniversary-competition-character-law/ is not working. So you might have a bit of trouble directing people to this thread ;)

Hi again folks,

If we are on to Channelling, attached is my submission. Ahmahl, a Dervish, is another long-standing (and suffering :) ) NPC from my Rolemaster campaign. For those interested in what he looks like, my wife and I commissioned a portrait of Ahmahl and his wife, Andrea, from Lance Red.

We think he did a terrific job capturing both characters.

Ciao,
Old Man

Approved.
Good read and I liked the various inclusions of fiction in the story.

Competition update!

To make life a little easier, you can now submit characters from any realm any time between now and June 6th. At the end of that time we will judge all entries and announce a winner in each category. The categories remain the same, all that changes is that you may now submit your entry whenever you wish up until 6/6/2013.

Only a few more days before we close the door on this competition, get your entries in quick!

Hopefully this fits with the spirit of the contest (and hopefully it is on time).

Sai started out as a HARP character when I met a friend for a gaming convention. I wanted to create a unique character that gave me and the GM a lot of room for fun and invention. The result was a "Mentalism" character who could not control his feelings. This opened up a lot of creativity in the game and its encounters.

I later migrated Sai to Rolemaster, but sadly never got a chance to play him (I'm an early-1980's gamer and life just gets in the way now, but in a good way).

Attached is the basic 1st level character sans the skill details. I wanted to show more of the role playing details here without making a 10-page submission. Hopefully you will get a kick out of the potential here. Crazy encounters could really go either way with Sai in the group!

Thanks for the welcome, and oops, I realized I missed a part in explaining Sai's depression. I have attached the amended sections. Basically, the daily check doesn't result in a critical if it fails, it results in an action penalty for that day.

Hi folks,

So what's the buzz on these contests? Fallen by the wayside?

We should be finished with Character pieces within next 2 weeks.  We received a number offline and comparing is harder than originally expected.

The last 2 sections will be Creature and Treasure, and we can't run those until we have the release of those products.
