« on: May 01, 2016, 06:26:36 AM »
Can a beast master cast his combat I spell and fight the same round?
Or does the spell even though its * cost spell activity ?

Casting an instantaneous spell takes 10% activity.  So the Beast Master can attack with 90% activity.

Yes. Probably.

In SL there are three versions of instant spells.

The core says they are a 75% activity so your beastmaster could not attack in the same round.

Option 1 says that instant spells are a 50% activity so you can cast and fight.

Option 2 was for instantaneous spells to be a 10% activitie so you could attack with 90% of your round left.

In RM1, * spells required no prep but were cast as normal spells, i.e. as a 75% action.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

Honestly, this being RM2, it all depends on the initiative and activity system/option the GM is using. People quoted how it's in the core. Other systems of note IMO are the "3.5. RMCI initiative system revisited" (RoCoIV, p11) where an instant spell is considered 0% activity, 0 IP but with a 50 IP between casting (I personally use this one) and the "3.10. An activity point based turn sequence" (RoCoIV, p15) where an instant spell costs 1 AP, but with a recovery time of (20 + lvl/2) AP. In both cases, one may attack after having cast an instant spell.

...then, you have the case of the RoCoVI "3.1. Second-by-second tactical combat" where the notion of round even disappears.
The world was then consumed by darkness, and mankind was devoured alive and cast into hell, led by a jubilant 紗羽. She rejoiced in being able to continue serving the gods, thus perpetuating her travels across worlds to destroy them. She looked at her doll and, remembering their promises, told her: "You see, my dear, we succeeded! We've become legends! We've become villains! We've become witches!" She then laughed with a joyful, childlike laughter, just as she kept doing for all of eternity.
