Shield Bash - do you use it? what rules do you use to resolve it?

Do you...
develop as a weapon skill?
develop as a regular skill like disarm?
use the ram/butt/bash table? max medium result on bash table?
is this a static action or a moving manuever to use it?

help.

The new RMU rules are good for this:
--Shield Bash has its own attack table, with primarily unbalancing and Krush crits. I think RM2 might have had a shield table too in one of the companions?
--Shield is its own skill. I think the developers want players to have to develop skill in bash separately from skill in defensive use, though our group just allows one skill to serve for both
--Shield Bash follows the normal rules for actions: a full attack with a shield bash would be 4 AP, a -25 attack is 3 AP, and a -50 attack is 2 AP. The Multiple Attack skill can be used to reduce penalties if you want to both shield bash and attack with a main-hand weapon at the same time.

Shield Bash - do you use it?
Yes, I do.

what rules do you use to resolve it?
RM2, RoCo. IV, chapter 3.9 "Shield bashes", options #3 and #4.

Do you...
develop as a weapon skill?
Yes, I do, as a one-handed crushing weapon.

Yes, I do.

max medium result on bash table?
No, I don't. I use a maximum depending on the shield size, as ruled in the aforementioned chapter.

It's a normal combat action.
The world was then consumed by darkness, and mankind was devoured alive and cast into hell, led by a jubilant 紗羽. She rejoiced in being able to continue serving the gods, thus perpetuating her travels across worlds to destroy them. She looked at her doll and, remembering their promises, told her: "You see, my dear, we succeeded! We've become legends! We've become villains! We've become witches!" She then laughed with a joyful, childlike laughter, just as she kept doing for all of eternity.

OLF worded it perfectly.

Ditto for me and the group I game with.

I use RMFRP, and Shield Bash is a write-in in one-handed crush weapon attacks. I use the Ram/Butt/Bash attack chart, and limit the attack by shield size (buckler equals small, wall shield equals huge).

To use a shield bash and a weapon in the same round requires the two-weapon skill in combat maneuvers category.

Using a shield bash takes away one of the melee defense "slots" of the shield for that round, and removes the ability to defend from missiles for that round.

I base this on my experience with using shield bashing in a LARP.
