Sharks with laser beams on their heads man!

Well well. . ..the naval version should be quite nasty if that weight/power ratio is to be believed. . .and those naval ships carry around a handy nuclear plant to power it too.

I think F-35 has 35 MW of extra power in its PP. Designed in for the completion of this type of weapon system.

The spec in the article says 150kw/shot, 35MW seems like a hella lot of juice, that's about the size of most commercial power infrastructure turbines . . . .the twin power plants on the most recent british destroyers being built can kick 25MW (50MW total) and each is larger than a large mobile home and weigh a lot more than any single engine attack plane could lift. . .

Full scale naval nuclear reactors are 150MW and they generally carry 2 per ship. . .now that would make for a whole slew of juice for lasers. . .I wonder if we're returning to the era when ships could kill anything to the horizon.

Betcha these things are not so effective against thermally resistant materials like. . .dirt.
