some questions ...
how strong is the magic in harp in comparison with D&D?
There are spells forbidden in your campaigns?
What starting level do you recommend to try the game?
Which edition of D&D? HARP mages/priests etc will be able to cast more flexibly than low-level D&D casters. At higher levels, scaling penalties keep the power under more control.
I have not forbidden anything from HARP Fantasy or HARP College of Magics.
I typicallly start players at 2nd or 3rd level, mainly to allow them to have created characters with more of a lifestory and an acknowledgement that my players are very experienced, so want to be able to get stuck into more challenging adventures.
