What are you doing with RM Rome?
« on: May 06, 2010, 11:51:26 AM »
Tell me your stories!  I am working on more RMRome books, and i would love to hear what you are doing with the core books.  Historical, pseudo-historical, fantasy mash-ups, time travel etc?

Historical and time-travel mostly. Somehow I don't fancya Roman "mythic" setting as much as Greek or Egyptian.
As you wish...

Just flipping through the pages, out of curiosity. I am still not sure if I want to start a campaign with the Rome-Setting, which could mean to abandon my actual campaign.  :-\

Either as an historical RP setting, or as a plug and play inserted important city, if I'd get it.
Looks promising though and I should get it since I love ancient Rome...

I am doing a mashup.  I have an "EVIL EMPIRE" based on MERP corsairs.  I am using a lot of material from ROME to flesh out this evil empire. It works really nicely.

I'm doing a altered fantasy history.  Imortals (Vampires from a post apocolyptic RM suplement, and Mummies(from the Egyptian RM supplement) exist in hiding and vie to control the world.  The plan is to go from 330 BC to 30AD.

I'm preparing for a historical campaign with an emphasis on interpersonal and communication skills. I must admit that I came to the setting with joy, as I have a love of the period arising out of high school and university, having studied Ancient History at both levels.

Now that my persona life seems to be settling down somewhat and the new RM revision is coming along nicely, my thought turn to the regional add-ons for RMR.  I have the Egypt one half done, and i am hoping to finish that off within a few months.

I'm glad to hear you on track with the Egypt companion. I'd love to give you feedback on it, should the need arise.

I've barely scratched the NPC listing, due to NaNoWriMo, but once I get some free time next week I'll schedule time to work on RM Rome & the NPCs.

I was looking to run Rolemaster in Saxon England but my potential players knew so little.  Then I saw the book at a convention on Saturday and spoke to the potential players, and Rome appears as a much better option.
Started a background site for the players here :-

Hi

Last Rome campaign I ran was played 60AD. Players were given a mission by a close friend to them (the son of a senator). They would bring an important package to Brittania and submit the package to a person named Mark (the Evangelist). Their friend was secretly a Christian and the package contained an artifact (the spearhead that had been stuck in the side of jesus). Then they Christna were persecuted, it was of high importance to bring this relic out of the country.
They finally came to Brittania and by sheer coincidence it was the same time as a woman named Boudica rebelled.  :)
