RMFRP/SS Custom GM screens
« on: July 23, 2012, 02:24:17 PM »
I've been trying to buy a RMFRP GM screen and have so far been unsuccessful.
So I've given up on that and am going to make my own RMFRP GM screen set.
But before I do that, a cry for help.!!

Has anyone made their own screens and are willing to share them?
If you, any suggestions on what should go on there?

I just (my players actually) selected charts from the PDF and printed them off. The they taped the top of two pages and I laid them over my old D&D screen (1980's). But I do also have an old RM screen that I picked up when I bought a huge RM lot. But I am not interested in parting with it unless there is some serious $ involved.
I would cut up some cardboard for backing and then past your charts upon them. Or you could go the wood route and use water base polyurethane to stick the charts to the wood (stained or unstained).

But anyway good luck on finding or building what you need.

Yeah I'm scanning and printing out what I need atm.
I've made GM screens before so I can make them again, just hoped that someone had already made one and converted it to PDF or something.

Probably just use breakfast cereal boxes and stick the stuff that I want on it.

After printing the pages I wanted, I had to cut up most of the info into boxes and paste onto cardboard. Most of the page layouts weren't exactly what I wanted for quick reference.
I also put some info on the back, so players could use it too.
This saves time by having some of the tables/charts right there, at a glance.

I'm thinking of scanning sections and resizing them into Presenter or something so things fit more snugly.

After a few games, I found that some of the info needed to be moved around a bit. Every game is different.

Now that I think of it, I know of a few changes I'd make to help with the next game..

In all honesty, I have never used a GM screen.  Like the others posted, I just print off what I need, or retrieve it from my many ring binders (Critical Law, Combat Law, Movement Law, etc.).

I can't GM without a screen with all the handy tables..
In addition to that it gives me something to hide behind when I roll 00 on a crit against a character!  :laugh1:

I am looking after (and have been looking after for about 10 years now) an almost complete collection of RM2 books. Ths collection includes an official RM combat screen, catalogue #1001. Obviously it's RM2 and not RMFRP but it contains...

Player's side has:
back cover when it's folded up, just the contents highlights
full page image (same as RoCo I)
Static action table (Character Law table 15.3.2)
Battle round sequence (Arms Law table 8.2.3)

GM side has:
Strategic movement chart; standard encounter chart
Offensive mods; Defensive mods; Initiative Determination; Maneuver mods; Base Attack Roll Mods
Elemental attack roll mods; Resistance roll mods; resistance roll table
Battle round sequence; moving maneuver table

Bizarrely, the two battle round sequences are not the same. The player's side includes the optional fire phase B & fire result phase B, but the GM side doesn't.

Thanks for the info JimiSue  .
I've just recently had some interest in playing some RMFRP, so I'll have to get my act together and put together a screen.
